Wilson Fauber, a Virginia real estate agent and ordained minister, may lose his realtor status with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) for sharing his Biblical views about marriage on social media.
In 2023, Fauber ran for city council in Staunton, Virginia. His political opponents found a Facebook post where Fauber supported a Biblical stance on marriage. A local reporter sought out Fauber and asked him if he still held to his views that marriage was between a man and woman. Fauber stated his views were unchanged.
Thereafter, a complaint was filed against Fauber with the NAR Board of Ethics Complaints, based on NAR’s 2020 rule which disallows “hate speech,” including “hate speech” against “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.”
The Founding Freedoms Law Center is defending Fauber. Michael Sylvester, Fauber’s attorney, believes the new rule violates Fauber’s freedom of speech.
In an interview with CBN, Sylvester says that the “rule suggests that it controls that minister’s activity and therefore that individual activity” and that “even a minister preaching from the pulpit could violate this rule just by speaking on the Scriptures the way that it’s been implied in certain situations.”
Fauber, remaining firm in his views on marriage and free speech, refuses to back down.
“I am not remorseful. I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I will continue to boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” Fauber said in an interview with CBN.
“I’m adamant about pursuing the case,” he continued, “I believe the Lord has called me for such a time as this to be His voice in this particular matter, and He has given me His peace.”
