In November, a unique conference will take place at the Billy Graham Training Center.
Staff, officers and spouses from West Point Military Academy will spend three days in fellowship, worship and instruction, all designed to help participants to be ambassadors for Christ as they serve in the military.
Speakers for “West Point Training at The Cove” include Franklin Graham, John Trent and Gary Cobb. The conference emcee is Senior Chaplain Col. John Cook III, who has served for many years in the military in addition to serving as a pastor.
The West Point Training conference is not the first time BGEA has ministered to members of the armed forces. Billy Graham visited troops in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and Franklin Graham has spoken at several military installations. This past Easter, he spoke at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and talked personally with soldiers and their families.
Last September, 125 people attended the “Serving God and Country” conference at the Billy Graham Training Center. Participants came from the four major branches of the military. Much like the upcoming West Point conference, that conference sought to inspire and equip people to live out their faith effectively in the military.
Also in 2005, BGEA began an outreach designed to encourage troops serving overseas. “Operation Bless Our Troops” has sent more than 15,000 servicemembers a DVD of the Gospel film “Last Flight Out” and a CD of praise songs.
