Stories From the Prayer Line

Stories From the Prayer Line

Viewers continue to call BGEA’s 24-hour Prayer Line from every walk of life. And no matter their age, religion, health, spiritual condition, country of origin or any other factor, God meets them where they are. Here are a few recent stories of how God is using the Prayer Line ministry, which began in 2020 as a result of COVID-19, for His glory. All names have been changed to protect anonymity.

Elaine was watching a Billy Graham Classic on Pureflix when she noticed  the number on the screen. Somewhat surprised that a live person answered the call, she poured out her heart, sharing that she was ready to rededicate her life to Christ. However, she stated there was a sin she needed to confess, as she has followed the ways of the world in this particular area of her life. A Prayer Line team member told Elaine she was proud of her for bringing her sin into the light, and reminded her of the forgiveness that is available through Jesus. The team member shared various Scriptures and encouraged Elaine to return to God’s Word and to connect with a local church, then the two of them together explored local churches, using BGEA’s Church Locator Tool. Before ending the call, the team member prayed for the Spirit to continue His work of pruning and delivering Elaine for His divine purposes.

After watching the Billy Graham Classic, “Is There a Hell?” a caller named Fred accepted Mr. Graham’s invitation to call the number on the screen in response to his decision. He shared how he was convicted of sin, and did not want to spend eternity in hell. Fred and a team member prayed together, and Robert received Jesus as Savior and Lord. At the age of 93, he was very glad to be a son of the King.

James admitted that he was feeling an enormous weight of guilt because he had not set a good example for his children to follow. He shared that one of his sons had just died in a tragic accident as he stepped out in front of a truck. James had previously accepted Christ into his life, but it had been many years since he had attended a church. “My encouragement for him was to decide that he would follow Jesus faithfully today, and that I would be glad to pray with him,” a team member said. After sharing from the “Steps to Peace With God” booklet, the team member prayed with him to rededicate his life to Jesus, and before ending the call, asked God to continue to be with James as he endeavors to trust Him in all things.

Phillip called the Prayer Line from Greece. He said he has called several times and talked with team members, but he knew there was a battle going on between darkness and light. “He decided today he will come to the light,” a team member said. “He wanted to pray and receive Christ. He asked if I would say the prayer so he could follow me in it, and I did. I congratulated him and told him how happy the angels are.” Phillip said he has watched Billy Graham many times and is excited about everything he is learning about living the Christian life.

Raul was encouraged to call the prayer line by his Christian friend who attends high school with him. Raul grew up in a different religion. He shared that he was not happy with his life. A team member went through the “Steps to Peace With God” booklet with Raul, and he prayed the salvation prayer. “I encouraged him to download a Bible app and start reading the Book of John,” the team member said. “Praise God for the faith of these young men!”
