According to its recently released 2020-2021 annual report, Planned Parenthood received a record amount of taxpayer funding while providing fewer health services—such as breast cancer screenings, pap tests and prenatal care—during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the same time, the number of abortion services rose 8% to an all-time high of 383,460 abortions.
Their reasoning? “Abortion is essential health care that cannot wait for the end of a pandemic or the whims of politicians,” the annual report states. “… Planned Parenthood health centers are proud to provide abortion.”
Nicole C. Wilson, executive director of Charlotte Lozier Institute, took notice of the title of the annual report, “Here for a Reason.”
“Their own data shows that reason is abortion,” she said. “Planned Parenthood’s callous disregard for those less fortunate is evident when you consider they performed fewer than 3,000 cases of miscarriage care and fewer than 2,000 adoption referrals in an entire year but performed almost 400,000 abortions on vulnerable women and girls.”
Compared to the previous year, the abortion giant’s adoption referrals dropped 27%.
“Planned Parenthood has been caught trafficking aborted baby parts and organs; covering up sex abuse of minors; encouraging sex-selective abortions; accepting $$ to kill Black babies; and they kill 1,051 babies per day. Yet they remain open and funded with $1.7 million a day from taxpayers,” tweeted Lila Rose, president and founder of the pro-life organization Live Action.
In fact, Planned Parenthood’s total balance sheet—ending on June 30, 2021—shows that the organization’s net assets and liabilities have risen to over $2.5 billion while receiving $633 million in “government reimbursements and grants.”
“The nation’s largest abortion vendor ended more lives than ever before, and the largest source of their income was the American taxpayer,” Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins said. “While many people suffered during COVID, Planned Parenthood prospered.
“Planned Parenthood’s annual report should infuriate and devastate everyone,” she posted later on Twitter.
