At the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, we are driven by the same sense of urgency demonstrated by Jesus during His earthly ministry. He was always focused on preaching the Gospel, pressing forward and never wasting a moment. He knew that time was short and many still needed to hear the message of eternal life.
Jesus said: “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:4-5, NKJV).
Through our Crusades and other evangelistic efforts, we have been able to tell tens of millions of people about Jesus Christ, but we know that billions more still need to hear. Night is coming. The daily headlines remind us of the brevity of life, and all around us we see multitudes not ready to face eternity. There is no time to waste.
Our Crusade schedule is as busy as it has ever been. My father is preaching in major cities across the United States: last month in Kansas City, this month in Los Angeles and next year in New York City. Meanwhile, this fall I will be leading evangelistic events at the far ends of the Americas, from Nova Scotia to Chile, and next year I’m planning to hold more international Festivals than ever before.
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association continues to develop and produce international ministries, youth programs, evangelism training and a full range of media outreaches to spread the Gospel far beyond churches and stadium events. People who want to know more about Jesus can reach us 24 hours a day by phone or Internet.
Evangelism can be as simple as using the Operation Andrew approach that BGEA has employed in Crusades for years. List five to 10 people whom you know need Jesus. Pray for them daily and look for opportunities to cultivate your friendship. Bring them to church or to an evangelistic event. Talk with them about Jesus, and show them His love in practical ways.
During this Thanksgiving season, there is no better way to thank God for His love than by sharing the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. “We proclaim him,” Paul wrote in Colossians 1:28-29, “admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me” (NIV).
