The vast majority of American parents oppose schools promoting transgender ideology to children, a new poll revealed.
Published Jan. 6, the survey collected responses from 1,000 parents in America who have children age 18 or younger. Parents Defending Education (PDE), a parental rights advocacy group, sponsored the study which was conducted by CRC Research Dec. 12-18.
Eighty percent of responders disagreed that “schools should help a child change their gender identity,” including using name and pronoun changes or providing clothing, chest-binding or other interventions, without notifying parents.
Some 74% of responders reported that they disagreed with schools upholding official policies that aid students with gender “transitioning” and not sharing the school’s actions with parents. The policies listed included allowing students to use opposite sex bathrooms and locker rooms, referring students to clinics to obtain puberty blocker or hormone injection prescriptions, and using pronouns and names different from those assigned at birth—names that affirm a student’s “transition.”
Erika Sanzi, director of outreach at PDE, believes the poll affirms the opinion that most parents do not support the increase of transgender ideology in schools.
“This poll shows overwhelming opposition to school personnel withholding information from parents about their child’s gender identity at school,” Sanzi said in a press release. “This matters because the policies propagated by activist groups, the National School Boards Association and teachers’ unions all allow for—and often require—the deliberate deception of parents by school staff if that is what the minor child wants. It’s refreshing to see even more confirmation that people think this ubiquitous trend of facilitating gender transitions behind the backs of parents is complete madness and needs to stop.”
Of those polled, 79% disagreed with transgender school policies because of the “major long-term medical and psychological ramifications” and because “Parents deserve to be kept informed if their child requests to be referred to by a different gender while in school.”
Cissie Graham Lynch addressed the government’s war on the parental right to raise and protect children in her Fearless podcast episode called “The Madness of Mutilation—The False Gender Ideology Attacking our Families.”
“The issue of gender isn’t just about a cultural phenomenon, marketing and our media,” Cissie said on her Oct. 21 episode. “It’s an issue of legislation, and when it comes to our children, will you as the parent be able to protect them?”
Cissie also reminds listeners that the war is not only rooted in politics but rooted in a battle against Scripture.
“What would you do if your child decided to identify as a bird and thought they could fly off of the stairs? You would stop them to protect them from getting hurt,” Cissie said.
“Before gender identity was ever a political issue, it was a Biblical issue. Genesis 1:27 says, ‘And God made man in His own likeness. In the likeness of God He made him. He made both male and female.’ We don’t define our gender—only God can define who we are.”
