Planned Parenthood’s 2018-2019 annual report reveals a record-high number of abortions performed by the organization while receiving more taxpayer funding than any other year on record.
The report shows Planned Parenthood performed 345,672 abortions during the last fiscal year, making abortion 95% of its pregnancy-related services, according to the Susan B. Anthony List.
In contrast, the organization only provided 4,279 adoption referrals—just .044% of the services it provides–during the same period of time. That means that for every one adoption referral, 81 abortions were performed.
“Planned Parenthood is laser-focused on promoting abortion over any other service,” Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director, told Fox News. “They now run abortion-only clinics in several cities and have given up any semblance of trying to hide behind ‘family planning.’ … Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion vendor, and their annual report only solidifies that fact.”
The annual summary reported that taxpayers gave Planned Parenthood $616.8 million during the 2018-2019 fiscal year, which amounted to nearly $1.7 million a day.
With the organization’s acceptance of federal money on top of its nongovernment health services revenue and private contributions, Planned Parenthood’s revenue for the fiscal year exceeded its expenses by nearly $150 million.
“Once again, Planned Parenthood’s own numbers show abortion and profit are their top priorities,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List. “Their cancer screening and prevention services, breast exams, pap tests, and even contraceptive services have steeply declined. Planned Parenthood is a bad investment for taxpayers.”
In August, Planned Parenthood voluntarily chose to withdraw from the federal Title X program rather than comply with a Trump administration rule that required Title X recipients to keep their abortion operations physically and financially separate from their family planning services.
Planned Parenthood’s decision is expected to cost the abortion giant $60 million in federal funding this fiscal year.
“We thank President Trump for working to curb Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding,” said Dannenfelser in a statement, “and urge our allies at every level of government to do the same.”
