Michigan parents Dan and Jennifer Mead are suing their school district for socially transitioning their 13-year-old daughter to a male gender identity without their consent, actively deceiving them about it.
Dan shared with Newsmax that as they were working with the school to help meet the needs of their daughter, who was recently diagnosed with autism, a school employee accidentally showed them paperwork that referred to their daughter with a male name and pronouns. The Meads took action to investigate and eventually discovered that the school had been socially transitioning their daughter to a male identity and hiding it from them.
Jennifer said that she felt shocked, betrayed and heartbroken, and that she had trusted the school, with which they had been in contact to help with their daughter’s academics.
The Meads pulled their daughter from the school in October of 2022 and are reportedly homeschooling her.
Court documents reveal that the school had asked for the Meads’ consent for many decisions regarding their daughter in the past, but the Meads heard nothing from the school when it came to socially transitioning her to a male identity until it was accidentally revealed.
The Meads are represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys, who filed the lawsuit in December in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, Southern Division.
