Judge Awards Full Custody to James Younger’s Mother, Who Says He’s a Girl

In the ongoing legal battle between 9-year-old James Younger’s parents, a Texas court granted temporary primary custody of the boy and his twin brother, Jude, to their mother, Dr. Anne Georgulas, who has sought to present James as a girl since he was 3.

In a memorandum ruling issued Aug. 3, Judge Mary Brown gave Georgulas “exclusive rights on a temporary basis,” including the right to establish the children’s primary residence; to consent to medical, dental and surgical treatment involving invasive procedures; to consent to psychiatric and psychological treatment of the children; and to make decisions concerning the children’s education.

In addition, Brown ordered that visits between the boys and their father, Jeffrey Younger, must be supervised by Forensic Counseling Services at Younger’s expense. According to the “Save James” Facebook page, run by friends and supporters of Younger, he is only permitted to see his sons for two hours twice a month.

Brown did, however, specify that “neither parent may treat a child with hormonal suppression therapy, puberty blockers and/or transgender reassignment surgery without the consent of the parents or court order.”

The divorced couple had been fighting for custody of James and Jude since 2019. In their divorce proceedings, Georgulas accused Younger of child abuse for refusing to “affirm James as transgender.”

Georgulas, a pediatrician, has presented James as a girl named “Luna” for six years now, and said she first began believing he desired to be a girl when he preferred a McDonald’s toy tailored for girls.

According to Younger, James consistently chooses to wear boy’s clothes and identifies as a boy when he is at his house. Yet Georgulas has stated her intent to eventually seek chemical castration treatments to help James “transition” into a girl.

Although both parents are under a gag order because the publicity of the years-long case was proving traumatizing to James and his brother, “Save James” posted on Aug. 4, denouncing the court order, saying in a statement that “Judge Mary Brown ruled against the safety and protection of James and Jude.”
