The death of a loved one–sometimes it seems tragic, sometimes unfair, sometimes a relief. Sometimes it has been expected, other times it comes as a shock.
But it is never easy, and grief is a bittersweet companion. No matter how painful our feelings, however, as Christians we have confidence that when a believer dies, that person will be with Jesus forever. Revelation 21:4 says that in heaven, after the return of Jesus Christ, God “will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (NIV). No wonder Christ’s return is called “the blessed hope”!
