Girls Volleyball Team Banned From Locker Room Over Complaint About Transgender Student

Female students at a Vermont high school have reportedly been banned from using the girls’ locker room after objecting to a transgender student changing there.

According to a report from local CBS News outlet WCAX, several members of Randolph Union High School’s girls’ volleyball team had voiced concerns to school officials about sharing a locker room with a biological male who identifies as transgender.

“He was born a boy,” one team member said. “I don’t care if he’s on my team, he can join any team, I don’t care. But when I’m undressing and there’s a male in the girls locker room or in the bathroom with me, I feel very uncomfortable.”

The school’s response? Give the transgender student full access to the girls’ locker room and relegate the rest of the team to a single-stall bathroom to change one at a time.

“They want all the girls who feel uncomfortable—so pretty much 10 girls—to get changed in a single-stall bathroom, which would take over 30 minutes. Where if one person got changed separately, it would take a minute, like no extra time,” another player explained, arguing that it made much more sense for the one transgender student to change in the bathroom.

In an email to families, co-principals Lisa Floyd and Caty Sutton, as well as Athletics and Activities Director Nick Bent, encouraged the volleyball players to come to school dressed for their games if they didn’t want to wait in line to change in the bathroom stall. “We do not make this decision lightly, but we believe it is the right decision at this time,” they said.

Franklin Graham said the situation “just leaves you shaking your head.”

“Why shouldn’t they object?” he asked. “Just because this boy says he wants to ‘identify’ as a female doesn’t make him a female. Thoughts don’t change facts. Why are people falling for this? We have to stand up for truth and for our rights and not be steamrolled by the transgender agenda in our society today. Simply put, this is discrimination against biological girls and women. What about their right to privacy? What about their sports, their locker rooms, their bathrooms that are being taken over by biological males? These school administrators need to get their heads back on straight.”
