A former Planned Parenthood employee is speaking out about the organization’s “abhorrent” transgender treatment policies.
Abigail Shrier, a journalist for The Wall Street Journal and author of “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters,” interviewed the ex-employee, who asked to remain anonymous. Shirer said she confirmed the woman’s prior employment through a past Planned Parenthood pay stub.
The woman reportedly lives in a small town of roughly 30,000 and said the clinic she had worked at saw one to two biologically female teen patients seeking testosterone per day.
“Trans-identifying kids are cash cows,” the woman told Shrier, “and they are kept on the hook for the foreseeable future in terms of follow-up appointments, bloodwork, meetings, etc.”
The woman said the girls would often arrive to the clinic with a group of friends, and she described the teenagers as “super cheerful, giggly—[like] it’s a fun thing.”
“There were no doctors at the clinic where she worked,” Shrier reported. “Nurse practitioners were the professionals with the highest medical training, she said. The clinic employed a gender counselor who had ‘no actual professional credentials or formal training other than being MtF’ (that is, a male-to-female transgender person). Adolescents would come and speak to this gender counselor and Planned Parenthood would then forward the counselor’s ‘notes to an actual licensed mental health professional somewhere off-site, and rubber stamp approve the patients to begin their transition. This is basically how they circumvented the requirement to speak to an actual counselor.’”
The former employee recalls that a lot of the young female patients she interacted with seemed to have “serious emotional issues.” A lot of them had a history of abuse and many had “fresh self-harm marks,” she said.
Just five years ago, Planned Parenthood announced in its annual report that it would begin “expanding access to care” by offering new services for transgender patients. Today, it is considered the second largest provider of gender-affirming hormone care in the country, says Shrier.
“It seems reasonable to conclude that hormone treatments—pricey as they are—now contribute materially to Planned Parenthood’s bottom line,” she added.
“In other words, this is one lucrative service,” said Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council, “and Planned Parenthood is never going to let caution or patient safety get in the organization’s way. And worse, these irreversible treatments are being funded by people like you and me. Americans who would never consent to these devastating life choices are bankrolling these gender factories in at least 38 states.”
