On Feb. 19, four Christians from the Farooq-e-Azam neighborhood of Karachi were falsely accused of blasphemy by Muslim couple Fayaz and Samina Riaz. Following the accusation, an Islamic mob attacked the Christian-majority neighborhood, displacing around 200 Christian families from their homes and killing their pets and livestock.
According to International Christian Concern, after police investigated, Samina Riaz eventually admitted to orchestrating the incident and she and her husband were arrested.
Pakistan is fifth on the 2019 Open Doors World Watch List, which tracks the 50 worst countries where Christians face extreme persecution.
