Billy Graham Library Grounds Open to Public for Prayer, Reflection

Starting today, the grounds of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, will reopen to the public for those who wish to visit the outdoor Memorial Prayer Garden for prayer and reflection. The Library buildings will remain closed, and the Journey of Faith tours will resume at a future date to be determined.

“During this time of crisis, having hope provides a positive outlook toward what’s ahead,” said Scott Holmquist, executive director of the Billy Graham Library. “That hope can be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“The Memorial Prayer Garden gives guests a place to come to pray, take a short walk and find respite from the uncertainty amid this global pandemic. We continue to pray for those affected by the coronavirus here in our community and around the world.”

With state and county stay-at-home orders still in effect, the Billy Graham Library has implemented precautionary measures to meet the requirements of the local and state governments. According to a press release from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, visitors will be limited to 20 on the property at a time, social distancing measures will be practiced, and there will be hand-sanitizing stations and increased cleaning of all benches and surfaces that people may come in contact with.

“People interested in visiting are encouraged to adhere to CDC guidelines for being in public places and are discouraged from visiting if they have symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 virus,” the press release says.

Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains will be available on the Library grounds to listen to and pray with visitors. The chaplains are subject to health guidelines, including having had their temperatures screened and wearing face masks.

Though all indoor facilities within the Billy Graham Library remain closed, the ministry is offering online resources and activities for people to stay virtually connected during this stay-at-home period. For more information, visit billygrahamlibrary.org/continue-the-journey-from-home/.
