An affront to millions of Christians nationwide, the Biden administration sparked controversy on Good Friday, March 29, when the White House issued a lengthy proclamation declaring March 31—Easter Sunday—as “Transgender Day of Visibility.”
Biden has made the same proclamation since 2021, but this year the date fell on what is, in the words of Franklin Graham, “the most significant day of the Christian calendar.”
“This once again shows how little respect President Biden and his administration have for God,” Franklin posted on Facebook.
Friday’s proclamation says, “On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union—where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives.” It goes on to call out “extremists” fighting to protect children from sterilizing procedures and getting pornographic books out of school libraries, calling these measures “hateful laws that target and terrify transgender kids and their families.”
The White House claims that it was simply coincidence, and faults conservative politicians and news outlets for spreading “misinformation”: “As we know, for folks who understand the calendar and how it works,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, “Easter falls on different Sundays. … And this year it happened to coincide with Transgender Visibility Day. And so, that is the simple fact.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson said that Biden “betrayed the central tenet of Easter—which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
Biden claims to be a devout Christian and Catholic, and issued a very short proclamation on March 31 for Easter Sunday.
Albert Mohler, in an article at WORLD, said, “Not even this White House could have missed that the transgender declaration was scheduled to collide with Easter. They don’t care. The Transgender Day of Visibility is more important to their election campaign.”
However, he points out, “Surveys reveal that support for the transgender revolution is not growing, but receding. This is especially true when the question is children and teenagers, but it is extended to all ages. The transgender revolution is losing ground. … Or, to put it another way, the more the transgender movement insists on being visible, the more the truth is likely to show itself.”
Evangelist, author and pastor Greg Laurie chimed in on X: “This is a profound insult to the sincerely held religious beliefs of millions of Americans on our holiest day. America needs God more [than] ever and yet this is the stance the White House takes.
“It’s time to turn back to God, not turn our backs on God. We need to repent and pray for a spiritual awakening in America. It is our only hope,” he added.
Franklin Graham continued in his post, “On the most significant day of the Christian calendar, when the Church around the world celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ who died and shed His blood for the sins of mankind, the Biden administration uses this opportunity to flaunt sin, to glorify sin, and to celebrate sin.
“The Bible says, ‘…they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them!’ (Isaiah 3:9). Judgment is coming,” he added. “Instead of celebrating sin, we need to confess our sins, repent of our sins, and ask for God’s forgiveness.”
